Dessert Menu: September 23, 2018 - Fall TV

Morning, friends!

Since we talked all about our conventional adventures yesterday, I didn't get a chance to talk about this year's Fall TV shows that I'll be watching. So I get to do it now! Woooo!

Gotham

When this show debuted, I was immediately interested. I love me some Batman, so seeing this "origin story" of sorts was definitely on my list. It started slow, but business picked up (especially last year). I was worried that it would meet an abrupt end, but I am glad they are getting one final season to wrap their story. It looks like we'll finally meet The Dark Knight!

The Goldbergs

I have been watching this show from the beginning and it has always made me laugh. Even though I grew up in the next decade, I can appreciate the references and movie tributes. This Wednesday, the crew tackles Sixteen Candles for Adam's birthday. If past episodes are any indication, this should be wonderful!

The Gifted

Much like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., a superhero show starring a cast of unknown actors was a big hit in our house. I know that Stephen Moyer and Amy Acker are "names," but most of the mutants were not. I keep saying that this show might make more sense if we'd seen X-Men: Apocalypse, but that's still sitting on my hard drive unwatched. Still, the story this year should be great - mutants vs mutants!

A.P. Bio

We randomly found this on Hulu last spring, and I think we finished the first season in two days. Glenn Howerton crushes it as a philosophy professor-turned biology teacher who uses his students to get back at the people who have wronged him. Patton Oswalt is great as the principal, and the kids are hilarious. I am excited to see what wacky schemes the class gets up to this year!

Splitting Up Together

This quietly became a favorite show of mine last year. I admit I started watching this because it starred Jenna Fischer (yeah, Pam!), but I grew to really enjoy it. I didn't know a lot of the cast, but they have been delightful carrying out a neat premise: co-parenting with your ex-spouse. What could possibly go wrong? Catch the new season Tuesday, October 16 on ABC!

Last Man Standing

I've talked about this on the show, so I won't go too deep here. But I am very excited that this gang is back. And by the time it comes on Friday, I will be all caught up on Season 6! Woooo!

Manifest

My supervisor sent me the trailer for this show, and I am interested to see this story. After a turbulent flight lands safely, the passengers and crew are relieved. But in those few hours of panic, the world aged five and a half years. What happened? How will these passengers re-enter a world that presumed them dead? Will any of them have special powers? Find out Monday at 10 on NBC!

Murphy Brown

I remember always laughing at this show when it was on, even if I was too young to really get all of the jokes. So I am looking forward to seeing this reboot - someone call Dan Quayle!

📂

We also heard from some fans about their excitement - thanks, dudes!

Ben Beck: Manifest and New Amsterdam

I'm glad to see more people looking forward to Manifest (maybe we'll bring it up on the show?), but I hadn't heard about New Amsterdam until Ben mentioned it. Apparently it is based on a true story of a doctor choosing to put patient needs over what THE MAN will cover. I wish every medical office did this, because it is certainly needed here in MURICA. Maybe this show will encourage them?

Lock Jaw, son of Tetanus:

Hyped for Legends of Tomorrow and Lucifer! The rest of the DC shows somewhere below those. Excited to see where Agents of SHIELD goes too. It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is already back, but I was hype for that.

I have never watched Legends of Tomorrow, but the DC Prime Time guys certainly have that covered. And although I am not caught up on Lucifer, I am happy that the show was saved by Netflix - should be great (but we have to wait until 2019)!

I had S.H.I.E.L.D. on this list initially, but then I saw that it won't be back until July 2019, so I'll for sure cover it then.

🎬

And that's what we've got, friends! Let me know what we missed in the comments, and have fun with all of the new episodes!

Crap open a cold one!

  1. I know this if off topic but I'm looking into starting my
own weblog and was curious what all is required to get setup?
I'm assuming having a blog like yours would cost a pretty penny?

I'm not very web savvy so I'm not 100% certain. Any suggestions or advice would
    be greatly appreciated. Appreciate it

    1. No worries! I'm pretty sure all I needed to make this page was a Google Account. The only part of this I paid for was the domain name (themeltingpat.com), but everything else was free and super easy to set up.
