Show notes - Episode 226: Proudly Serving Disciplined Breakfast

Morning, friends!

I found some cinnamon to top off my oats with apple, so I hope your day started just as well. When I looked at the cards for this episode, I figured we'd be together for 40 minutes, max. When I stopped recording it had been 62. Maybe by the time you see this I'll have cut a bunch of stuff out, but you will at least hear about our favorite cereals! Yeah!

Pat rambles on current events (2:10), decorating the studio (5:12), our favorite cereals (8:32), and what he’s been up to (28:25). Plus the latest tune from shallow pools (33:26), the Divisional Round of the NFL Playoffs (38:11), a Flyers Update from The Captain (49:03), and Facebook fun with Pride Nights (51:22)!

Help Australia and Puerto Rico

I don't have lots of money, so the best I can do is tell you where to go to send some of the money that you have to help Australia (list of donation sites, via The Cut) and Puerto Rico (links to Charity Watch) in their time of need.

Decorating

It took quite some time, but I finally got my artwork from Odyssey Art (good friend of the Network, Brian C. Roll!) hung in the studio. I have a few more pieces that I've gotten from conventions that still need to be displayed, so if you can help me get a third cubicle panel in here that would be so wonderful.

Cereal

I figured this would be a big topic, and I've never been so mad to be right. Instead of typing things about cereals, here's that video of a raccoon eating Fruit Loops. Enjoy!

Video games

Apparently fictional hockey player me is "undisciplined" because I go for the big hit rather than the simple poke check. Who knew? I should also point out that even though I "got dragged" (did I use that correctly?) by the announcers, my team won that game handily. Also I am enjoying The Last of Us aka Uncharted but with zombies.

shallow pools

Thanks so much to our dear friends for their new tune! Get the song where you get things, and check out the video below!

🏈

NFL Playoffs

And then there were eight. I realize it may be "boring" to pick 3/4 home teams, but they got bye weeks for a reason. My only upset pick is the Seahawks, because they can be sneaky good. The Texans can too, but I think the Chefs will be too much. Go Ravens!

Pride Nights

I may have discussed this on the show before, but it was worth repeating. It's always a treat to learn which people are willing to out themselves as homophobes, racists, or general pieces of garbage on an open forum. Bottom line: Enjoy the Pride celebrations or don't, but there's no reason to be a jerk about any of it.

🎸

And that's that, pals! Thanks so much for coming to the table. And of course, thanks to The Captain for dropping in with the update! I hope you are able to enjoy the nice weather, and that you have fun doing whatever it is you have planned.

Until next time, don't do anything I wouldn't do!

Crap open a cold one!
