Show notes - Episode 591: Stops Along Memory Lane

Morning, friends!

My patrons got a heavy bonus this week, but the freeloaders can skip that and get to some more lighthearted mouth sounds. Let's get to it!

Pat plays new music from Midfield before rambling on oral history projects, closing hours, and calls to FIFA.

Patreon bonus

This week, the bonus was a heavy one. This Nolan Wells case raises a lot of questions, so I tried my best to tackle it with the information I had. Click the thing and sign up to hear it.

🎶

Midfield

Thanks to our dear friends for the brand new tune! Go get Battle Scars where you do music things, and check out more from the band here! Tell em Pat sent you! (Now that I've heard the full song, I can confirm it fucking rules.)

Oral history projects

My university is doing an oral history and I will be a part of it. It was nice to revisit that time in my life, even if my answers were off the cuff. Sitting down to reflect later was a nice moment for me. If you buy the alumni package and hear the stories, let me know how you liked them all.

Closing hours

There appears to be some confusing about what the closing hours on the signs of stores really mean, so I tried my best to explain it. If you've never worked in customer service, you probably don't think about the extra work that the employees do to shut down - if you're even aware of this work at all. So just be mindful of that and don't be a dick to people who sell you novelty items and/or cook your food.

Presidents calling FIFA

Take the names of the current presidents of the US and FIFA out of this story, and break it down to its prime factors: The president of a World Cup host nation called the president of FIFA to ask about getting a player from his country unsuspended. And, because the FIFA president is a friend of the nation's president, it worked. That should not happen! I need people to take off their partisan hats and recognize how odd this is. Why are we like this?

🚪

And that, as we say, is that! Thanks for coming along this week! The next four shows are in the can because I'm back in my office, so join us for some chatter on GTA VI, Ben Affleck movies, skills we wish we had, and more. Until then, don' do anything I wouldn't do!

Crap open a cold one!
