Show notes - Episode 479: Pause the Fight for Promotion

Morning, friends!

If you like to listen to me ramble about lots of things, do I have an episode for you! If you don't? Well, that's my bad. But we have some great music today - let's go!

Pat does some housekeeping and rambles on birthday parties before playing new music from Hope Vista (7:41). Then it's more of our favorite video game tunes (12:26), false advertising (24:46), promoting your work (32:56), professional fighting leagues (45:58), and dealing with negative feedback (51:34).

Many thanks to our dear friend for her newest song, Holy Water! Go get the thing, click her name to find more from her, and tell her Pat said hi! Also check out our chat from 2021 here!

Video game tunes, part 2

Thank you for submitting so many sweet video game tracks so I could run this back. If I still had a live show, I could have done these for a month and it would have been great. I'll let you know when I can play any of these games!

False advertising

If you make or upload videos for kids, please put whatever is in the thumbnail up front. I plead with you as a dad who has had to deal with many a freak out over this. Also if you can tell me what's up with this Evony game, that'd be nice. What are you, returning king?

Self-promotion

This one took a turn, but I'm actually okay with it. First, if you're sharing a story about "go here to do a thing" - put that link in the story. Don't make people go elsewhere for it. Second, if you make or sell anything at all? Have a website. Link to it from every profile you have. It sounds silly, but as a person who makes things we have to cater to shorter attention spans. (Also it's just kind of annoying to have to click around for stuff.)

Professional fighting

Pillow fights. Power Slap. Bare Knuckle. Professional fighting is really something. Also there is a Power Slap mobile game that is actually really fun, so go check that out if you're into it. And how do we get rolling with our Burger King Fight Club idea? I think this could be a big thing on TikTok. Hell, Elon would probably pay to have someone post the videos to Twitter. Let's get on it!

Fan mail: Dealing with negative feedback

I love getting mail, so thank you for continuing to send it (and for letting me know the contact form still works!), I take all feedback and see if I can use it to improve the show. If there's nothing constructive, I brush it off and/or make fun of it. I used to internalize it, but that's unhealthy. So now I make it part of the show. Everyone wins?

📬

And that, as we say, is that! Thanks for coming along once again. Next week? I have no idea what's what, but we should have another sweet tune. Until then, don't do anything I wouldn't do!

Crap open a cold one!
